Background

Hong Kong born Nicole Pearson has been involved with horses all her life. She started her passion when watching her father’s racehorses undergo barrier trials at Happy Valley on early Saturday mornings. She very soon started riding at Pokfulam Public Riding School and Beas River Equestrian Centre and has been actively involved in all elements of the Hong Kong and Asian Equestrian scene ever since. She has taken on many roles including Pony Club Instructor, RDA and Para Instructor, rehabilitation rider for ex-racehorses, steward, jumping judge, trainer, Chef d’Equipe and competitor.

She has received extensive training in Belgium and the UK in showjumping, eventing and dressage. In Belgium she trained with renowned trainer Jos Kumps during which time she competed and was placed in various tours throughout Europe. Her current base is Surrey where she trains her four Eventing horses with Kevin and Emma McNab. Since becoming a member of the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Senior Equestrian Team, she also receives training from Performance Managers Corinne Bracken and Nick Burton.

Her competition experience has ranged from five previous Asian Games (jumping in 1986 Seoul; eventing in 2002 Busan, 2010 Guangzhou, 2014 Incheon and 2018 Jakarta), 1997 Shanghai National Games, numerous international borrowed horse competitions and interports. She has participated in all levels of competition in Hong Kong, Australia and Europe and is extremely keen to encourage young riders in Hong Kong.

Nicole was part of the Bronze medal winning Eventing Team at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Since then, she has continued to compete in various levels of competitions in both Hong Kong, UK and Europe.

She says, “Every time is different, exciting and highly memorable. I am really looking forward to the thrilling Games and competitions in the future.”
