Background
The HKEF believes that on-site visits and spectating competitions efficiently enhance interests and understanding to the sports, and have been focusing on education and promotion of the sport via visiting. In 2011 the pioneer programme of HKEF Guided Tour was launched for a major local international competition. Coming to the eighth year since the launch, the programme has been extended to other local and international shows, providing equestrian visual delights to over 34,000 visitors at different competitions.
How to join
Invitations will be sent to all local NGOs, primary, secondary and special schools prior to various local competitions which are open to the public. Interested organizations may apply for a 2-hour Guided Tour to the competition. Successful applicant will be allocated a visiting time slot by drawing lots. Application results will be announced on HKEF official website 2 weeks before the event takes place and applicants will be informed individually.
Main Activities
For every visiting session, around 40 – 60 participants with accompanying staffs will be led by our volunteers or staff to tour the competition venue. Participants can learn about basic equestrian knowledge, simple guidelines on how does an equestrian competition run, as well as the spectators’ etiquette. Highlight of the Guided Tour falls on enjoying the spectacular performance by riders. Game booths with equestrian-related contents are also occasionally set up to rouse the interest and involvement of visitors.
