Introduction to the Horse of the Year Show

The Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong, China (EFHKC) annual Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) is the highlight of the competition season in Hong Kong with the history of over 40 years. Three titles, namely the Eventing Horse of the Year Award, the Jumping Horse of the Year Award and the Dressage Horse of the Year Award, are awarded during respective shows usually held from March to May every year, marking the season end with a splendid finale. Each of these titles honours the best horse-rider combination in the relevant category by calculating points accumulated for each combination in all EFHKC graded competitions held throughout the season and an Overall Horse of the Year Award will be presented to the combination with the highest overall ranking from three disciplines during the season. Alongside the four hotly contested award titles, there are 5 more awards including The Junior Rider of the Year Award, The Grimshaw Plate, The Wrinklies Rice Bowl, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Best Newcomer Retired Racehorse Award and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Best Retired Racehorse Award.
