Background

My name is Hannah Cheung, I'm a dressage rider in The Hong Kong Jockey Club Youth Equestrian Squad and I'm currently studing Veterinary Medicine at the University of Sydney.

I have had a huge love for horses since a very young age, but I wasn't able to start taking lessons until after I graduated from primary school. Before I started riding, I used to swim and play the piano. I had done pony rides every now and then at Beas River when I was a kid, but only started taking lessons when I was 13. My first year of riding was spent at Clearwater Bay Equestrian Centre where I took lessons once a week, then I took a year off to study in Hangzhou before coming back and moving to Beas River Equestrian Centre. Since then, I've been fortunate enough to be able to start taking more lessons, participate in a number of competitions as well as getting 2 ex-racehorses on livery - previously one named Rewarding Flyer and now one named Winners Pioneer.

Throughout the 2021/22 season, I have been given the opportunity to compete two incredible pool horses, Don Le Beau and Precision Era, alongside my own horse. They have introduced me to the intricacies of dressage and brought me up to levels that I thought I could never reach, and I still have so much to learn from them. I am extremely excited for this show season and will keep working hard to consisently improve and excel as well as to achieve good results. My biggest ambition is to be able to pursue dressage professionally, continue progressing up the levels and represent Hong Kong internationlally in the future.
