Background

Clarissa Lyra started riding at the age of nine at the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s (HKJC) Tuen Mun Public Riding school and then at Beas River Equestrian Centre.

In 2011, aged 15, she moved to Europe with the goal of combining her academic studies with her ambitions to train and compete in the equestrian sport at the highest level.

Over the years, Clarissa has progressed steadily from initially competing over smaller circuits to now having ridden in Grand Prix and FEI ranking classes. She is the only Hong Kong rider in the FEI’s U-25 Jumping Ranking list.

Clarissa is a former member of HKJC Junior Equestrian Team representing Hong Kong in several competitions at Junior and Young Rider levels, and in 2016, was selected as a member of the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan Elite Squad.

In 2017, Clarissa was selected as one of the eight Senior representatives at the 13th National Games where she was the youngest rider for Hong Kong and earned an individual Bronze medal in her debut at the event.

Clarissa was nominated for HK’s Most Promising Sports Stars Awards (Equestrian) in 2017 & 2018. In the same years, she was awarded Certificates of Commendation from the Chairman of the HKSAR Delegation to the 13th National Games and the Secretary for Home Affairs in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the sport.

Clarissa is based in Belgium.
