Background
Annie Ho was born in Hong Kong on 7 September, 1983. From a young age, Annie had a great deal of success competing on ponies. She competed in the Wimbledon branch of the pony club in all disciplines, but eventing has always been her main interest. Annie went to Hartpury College in Gloucestershire, England to pursue her equine degree in 2001. During her studies, she also obtained her BHSII qualification in order to become a professional qualified instructor. After graduating, Annie returned to Hong Kong to continue her career in equestrian sports with the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC).
Annie competed in the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation’s Preliminary Eventing Competition in the Good Luck Beijing – HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup which was an Olympic equestrian test event in Hong Kong in 2007. She won the silver medal riding Super Bomb. In the following years of 2008 and 2009, Annie won the Eventing Horse of the Year Award with her horse Super Combed. At the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, she came 8th on her horse Undulette and was the highest placed Hong Kong rider. Annie became the Asian Eventing Champion after winning the inaugural FEI Asian Eventing Championships in Pattaya, Thailand in July 2013 with her own Hong Kong ex-racehorse Super Combed. Annie has also been successful in international events in Europe. In October 2013, she finished 4th at the CCI* Aldon International with Baxo. Annie was part of the Eventing Team which won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Korea and narrowly missed out on an individual medal by finishing 4th. In May 2017, Annie was 2nd at Chatsworth International on Baxo.
In 2019, Annie represented Hong Kong eventing team to the CCIO3*-L Designated Olympic Qualifier in Saumur, France. She also earned a team silver with her teammates in the FEI Asian Championships 2019 in Pattaya.
Besides being an outstanding rider, Annie served as an instructor at the Beas River Equestrian Centre and Tuen Mun Public Riding School which are managed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club from 2007 - 2009. She also trained the newly retired racehorses as part of her work.
Annie said, “I believe Eventing is the ultimate challenge between horse and rider. The skills required to excel at all three disciplines requires total trust and a true partnership between horse and rider.” With her passion in equestrian, she is determined to achieve greater success in the future.
