Background

My name is Anita Qian. I am an eventer in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Youth Equestrian Squad. I attend Hong Kong International School. When I'm not riding I enjoy spending time with friends, drawing and doing other sports such as Netball.

I started riding at aged 9 at Lo Wo Saddle Club in Hong Kong beacuse of a unique school program being offered. I quickly fell in love with the ponies and devoted myself to the sport. I participated in my first horseback riding competition in 2017, the Inter-schools Lower Division. The same year, I was asked to be a part of the Lo Wu Saddle Club Competition team, which gave me the opportunity to attend competitions at BREC. I attended my first event an a pony named Anthony in 2019, and profoundly enjoyed this discipline.

I have been fortunate enough to ride and compete with an incredible Warmboold named Rock Emperor. So far we have competed in all three disciplines, and he has helped me improve my riding substantially as well as progress up to the higher classes. I love horseback riding because the teamwork and the connection established between a rider and their horse are incredibly special and impressive. This sport has also taught me various valuable life lessons such as preseverance and reponsibility.

In the future, I will continue to train hard, and I aspire to represent Hong Kong and achieve good results at competition both locally and abroad.
