HK Equestrian Team attended the Flag Presentation Ceremony of the HKSAR Delegation to the 2nd National Youth Games
Wednesday, 31 July 2019 (Hong Kong) – The Flag Presentation Ceremony of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Delegation to the 2nd National Youth Games (NYG) was held at Tsuen Wan Sports Centre yesterday evening. Hong Kong Equestrian Team attended the ceremony.
Both Senior and Junior Show Jumping Teams were accompanied by our Chairman of HKEF Training and Selection Subcommittee and member of Executive Committee Mr. Howard Green represented the entire Hong Kong Equestrian Delegation at the Flag Presentation Ceremony. Based on the official competition schedule, the first batch of the team departed to Shanxi on 29 July.
Secretary for Home Affairs Mr. Lau Kong-Wah presented the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) flag to President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China and Chairman of Organising Committee of the HKSAR Delegation, Mr. Timothy Fok.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lau and Mr. Fok said that the HKSAR government has been supportive to nurture new talents and provide athletes with valuable experiences to compete in major sport events. They wished the delegation good luck achieving as the Games’ slogan aspires – “to meet the challenge and reach new height”.
The 2nd National Youth Games will be held between 8 – 18 August, with 620 athletes and 189 staffs forming the Hong Kong delegation to participate in the final competitions in 27 sports. For the first time, equestrian events are included in the NYG which is preceded by some of the events. 16 Hong Kong riders will be competing in Dressage and Show Jumping disciplines starting from 2 August onwards.
