HKEF Senior Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2019

The HKEF Senior Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2019 is based around the BREC1 Eventing and Horse of the Year (HOY) Eventing competitions (i.e. riders must compete in dressage, showjumping and cross-country). This is a competition for accomplished riders aged 14-18. Representing their schools, they will be competing as individuals for a HK$10,000 top prize.

Qualifying

Riders should be aged 14-18 years (as on 1st January, 2019), attending school and riding regularly in Hong Kong.

Competing riders must take part in at least two scheduled BREC eventing competitions, competing in either class, and complete at least one without elimination. The eventing dates at BREC are Sep. 29; Nov. 17; Dec. 15; Jan. 19; Feb 2; and, Mar. 16 (the HOY warm-up show).

A rider’s best result achieved in any of the scheduled BREC eventing competitions (i.e. between September 29 and March 16) will contribute to their overall score in the HKEF Senior Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2019 (see below).

Horses

It is not necessary that the rider enter the same horse for each competition.

It should be noted that horses for this competition are not provided by the HKEF: competitors will need to make their own arrangements (e.g. with their regular riding school or livery yard). The HKEF is not liable for related costs, such as horse hire, transportation, etc..

The Final and Overall Score

The final of the HKEF Senior Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2019 shall take place as part of the Eventing Horse of the Year Show on 30th March.

Riders may take part in either the 80 cm or the 100 cm class of the Eventing Horse of the Year Show.

The first place will be awarded to the rider with the lowest accumulated penalties, scored as follows:

20% of the penalties drawn from a rider’s best result in any of the earlier BREC eventing competitions (Sep. 29 – Mar. 16) will be added to the rider’s total penalties acquired in the Eventing Horse of the Year Show.

Prize for the winning rider

The winning rider in the HKEF Senior Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2019 will receive funding from HKEF of up to HK$10,000, payable towards an approved programme of training as selected by the rider. The chosen programme of training must be undertaken before 1st September, 2019 and must be approved in advance by the Training and Selection Sub-Committee (TSSC) of the HKEF.
