Background

Jacqueline Lai is an animal lover. She was quickly hooked on horse riding when her horse-loving mother brought her to stables to meet ponies and horses. She started lessons at age 10 at Lei Yue Mun Public Riding School.

In 2009, Jacqueline was selected as member of HKJC Junior Equestrian Team and received systematic training provided by the Club. In the same year she left home for good and committed to training as a professional show jumper in Europe, having been based in Denmark since December 2009 and Holland since 2023.

In 2011 Jacqueline was recruited into the senior HKJC Equestrian Team after winning Hong Kong's first ever international equestrian medal at the Asian Games in Guangzhou 2010 together with the team.

Jacqueline has the most appearances as the Hong Kong representative at the CSI5* Longines Masters of Hong Kong from 2016 to 2019.

In 2019, Jacqueline won a team jumping gold at FEI Asian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.

Jacqueline is grateful to the HKJC for the long-term financial support and to her family and John Byrialsen for the years of supporting her with top horses for competition.
