Hong Kong, China equestrian team wins a record seven medals at the FEI Asian Championships

The Hong Kong, China equestrian team has won a record seven medals, including two silvers and five bronzes at the FEI Asian Championships Pattaya 2025 in Thailand. The team secured second place in the medal table, marking a significant milestone in the development of the city’s equestrian sport.

Team Hong Kong, China, represented by 16 horse-and-rider combinations, competed in dressage, jumping, eventing and para dressage across both team and individual events at this year’s championships, held from 24 November to 7 December. The team was more than twice the size of the previous Asian Championships’ squad and competed in double the number of events, underscoring the city’s growing strength in equestrian sport. All riders and para riders have benefited from professional training under the Hong Kong Equestrian Performance Plan (HKEPP) supported by The Hong Kong Jockey Club, in collaboration with the Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong, China.

Patrick Lam, partnering Jockey Club Highdown March, delivered a remarkable performance in the three-day eventing competition, completing both the cross-country and jumping phases with zero penalties, winning the individual silver medal for Hong Kong, China. Lam, along with Annie Ho, Nicole Fardel-Pearson and Owen Wong also won a bronze medal in team eventing. Meanwhile, in team jumping, Lam partnered with Jacqueline Lai, Clarissa Lyra, and Sheikara Whyte to achieve another bronze medal.  Jacqueline Siu, Annie Ho, and Samantha Chan added to Team Hong Kong, China’s list of achievements, winning a bronze medal in the team dressage competition.

This year marked the debut of para dressage at the FEI Asian Championships, with Hong Kong, China securing three medals in this category. These included a team silver in the Para Dressage Team Competition, while Fleur Schrader, partnering Jockey Club Todays Special, has made history by winning Hong Kong, China’s first individual para dressage medal at an FEI Championship. She won two bronze medals in the Para Dressage Individual Competition and the Para Dressage Freestyle Individual Competition.

The prestigious FEI Asian Championships, first held in 2019, is the second-largest equestrian event in Asia following the Asian Games. This year it featured more than 80 riders from 13 countries or regions across five equestrian disciplines. "Thailand has been an amazing championship for Team Hong Kong China. Whilst it's always exciting to win medals, what we have seen here is great performances from a number of new combinations and young athletes. This is very exciting for the future", Amanda Bond, Head of Equestrian Affairs of The Hong Kong Jockey Club said.

The Hong Kong, China equestrian team was led by Chef d’Equipe Corinne Bracken, who also serves as the Club’s HKEPP Performance Manager. The team was supported by a dedicated group of professionals, including coaches, grooms, veterinarians, farriers, and physiotherapists, all provided by the Jockey Club.
