(Wuxi, 24 April 2026) — The Hong Kong, China Equestrian Team delivered a historic performance today at the 2026 National Showjumping Championship held at Pegasus Water Town in Jiangyin, Wuxi. Under the expert guidance of Team Coach Mr. Gianmarco Ferretti, the squad triumphed over a highly competitive field of 43 elite horse-and-rider combinations to secure the Gold Medal in the Team Jumping event.
Following an opening round of 17 penalties, the squad demonstrated world-class resilience in the second session to finish with a final total of 26 penalties. This dominant victory saw Hong Kong clinch the national title with a significant 13-penalty lead over the Silver medalists.
At the 2026 National Showjumping Championship in Wuxi, the Hong Kong, China representative team achieved a monumental milestone by securing their first-ever Team Gold at the National Championships, ending a 17-year wait for a national gold medal since 2009. Competing in an elite competition with jumps reaching a height of 150cm, the all-female squad consisting of Raena Leung, Melissa Yang, Ammy Xiao, and Joyce Shen triumphed over a field of 43 combinations to finish with a total of 26 penalties, outperforming the silver-medal Guangxi team by 13 points. This historic victory was anchored by Raena Leung’s crucial clear round in the second session and steady performances from the squad's rising stars, marking the first time a Hong Kong team has reached the top of the national podium in this discipline.

During the 2023 Guangxi 1st National Student (Youth) Games, seasoned rider Raena Leung served as the team coach, leading rising stars Ammy Xiao and Joyce Shen to a team gold medal. Three years later, the group reunited under the direction of Team Coach Mr. Gianmarco Ferretti, with the former mentor and her students now standing on the podium as equals and teammates.
The victory was highlighted by Raena Leung’s spectacular Clear Round in the final session to seal the gold. Ammy Xiao, 16, showed remarkable composure with two consistent 4-fault rounds, while Melissa Yang’s determined performance ensured the team remained at the top of the leaderboard throughout the day.
