FEI General Assembly Returns to Hong Kong: Global Equestrian Leaders to Convene

The Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) General Assembly is set to open tomorrow (4 November 2025) at the JW Marriott Hotel and Conrad Hotel in Admiralty, Hong Kong, running through to 7 November. This prestigious four-day event will bring together leaders from over 130 national equestrian federations to discuss critical topics shaping the future of equestrian sport.

Returning to Hong Kong for the first time in 27 years since it was last held here in 1998, the FEI General Assembly marks a momentous occasion for Hong Kong and the wider Asian equestrian community. Hong Kong holds a unique position in the region, with a rich equestrian tradition, consistent performances from its athletes, and a long history of providing highly skilled officials and judges for international and regional competitions. Significantly, Hong Kong judges have been officiating at the Asian Games since 1986 and have actively contributed to the Olympics, Asian Games, World Equestrian Games, and Asian Championships, offering professional expertise to the global equestrian community.

One of the key highlights of the assembly will be the introduction of the FEI Digital Horse Passport. This initiative aims to enhance global horse management and biosecurity standards, with phased implementation planned for 2026. Further details will be shared during the assembly, providing the equestrian community with a clearer roadmap for its adoption.

Discussions will also centre on major upcoming events, including the 2026 FEI World Championships in Aachen and the qualification systems for the equestrian events at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games. Updates to FEI regulations and other significant topics will also be on the agenda. The event will conclude with the FEI Awards Gala on 7 November at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, celebrating outstanding achievements in equestrian sport, including athletes, grooms, and other key contributors.

Lester Huang, President of the Equestrian Federation of Hong Kong, China, and Deputy Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, remarked: “We are honoured to once again welcome the FEI General Assembly to Hong Kong. This is a unique opportunity to showcase to global equestrian leaders the city’s pivotal role and contributions to equestrian sport in Asia. We look forward to engaging with them to shape the sport’s future and to demonstrate how Hong Kong supports its growth with professionalism and international expertise.”

The success of this assembly would not be possible without the steadfast support of The Hong Kong Jockey Club. As a key advocate for equestrian development in Hong Kong, the Club has played a crucial role in advancing the sport by providing world-class facilities and technical expertise.

The FEI General Assembly reinforces Hong Kong’s position as a central hub for equestrian sport in Asia, highlighting the local community’s professionalism and global outlook. This landmark event not only serves as a platform for fostering international collaboration but also offers invaluable opportunities for Hong Kong’s equestrian sector to engage with global stakeholders. Looking ahead, Hong Kong is well-positioned to continue leveraging its resources and expertise to contribute to the development of equestrian sport both regionally and internationally.
