We are delighted to announce that HKEF has appointed two internationally renowned dressage judges for the training and development of our dressage judges.
In order to provide the best possible training to our listed dressage judges and to expand our local talent pool, the HKEF has engaged Mrs Isobel Wessels (GBR) and Mrs Mary Seefried (AUS) as Course Directors to deliver our dressage judge education program. They will be assisting in the delivery of education for both listed judges and any member who is curious and interested in exploring dressage judging and gaining their judge accreditation.
As such, we are extending an invitation to a first training session which will be an online session via Zoom, that will serve as both an introduction to interested members and revision for listed judges. This Introductory Online Dressage Judging Seminar is scheduled for Wednesday 21 December 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (GMT+8) and will be at no cost to participants.
About the Course Directors

Isobel Wessels (GBR) has been involved with riding, training and judging for over 30 years. She commenced riding dressage in Vienna as a teenager and has had a very successful career in the saddle winning various national and international titles. Isobel has also competed and produced a number of horses to Grand Prix.
In 2011, Isobel was appointed as an FEI 5* Judge, making her one of only five in the UK. In this role Isobel has judged at some of the biggest shows around the world.
Along with her FEI 5* Judge accreditation, Isobel is an FEI 5* Mentor Judge, FEI 5* Young Horse Judge and an FEI Course Director. Added to this she trains dressage judges and riders all over the world.
Mary Seefried (AUS) has more than 40 years of service to equestrian sport. She competed in dressage, eventing, jumping and endurance in her native Australia and eventually focused on dressage. Mary commenced her National judging career in the 1980’s and was promoted to FEI 5* Judge in 1998. She was appointed as a member of the Ground Jury for her home Olympics in Sydney in 2000.
As Australia’s first FEI 5* Judge, Mary has presided over many Championship events including World Cups, Olympics and World Championships. She is also an FEI Technical Delegate (TD) and undertook this role at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. Additionally, Mary is a member of the FEI Judges Supervisory Panel (JSP) and in this capacity officiated at the 2022 World Championships in Herning, Denmark.
Mary is also passionate about judge education and has been actively providing education in this regard all over the world. In addition to her FEI qualifications mentioned, Mary is a FEI Mentor Judge, FEI 5* Young Horse Judge and FEI Course Director.
