Following the previous online session introducing the first Chinese female Jockey in April, another session on “How to become a Racing Trainee” was held this afternoon. The HKEF was honoured to have Ms. Amy Chan, Headmistress of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Apprentice Jockeys’ School and Executive Manager in the HKJC Racing Development Board, with us for this session.
Amy became the first female Headmistress of The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Apprentice Jockeys’ School which trains and develops future racing stars in 2006. She is also the current Executive Manager in the HKJC Racing Development Board.
The session started with an introduction on the daily routine for the Racing Trainees, followed by a virtual visit to different parts of the Apprentice Jockeys’ School and stable, including the classrooms, dinning area, RDB stable and horse swimming pool. At the Q&A session, questions on how to prepare yourself before enrolling to the Racing Trainee Training Programme, the pathway for Racing Trainee and how long for a Racing Trainee to graduate from the Programme were answered by Amy. “Believe in yourself and try your best are the keys for success,” said Amy.
