Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM Normandy starts today!

With the definite entries now locked in and with recorded breaking numbers of entries, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian GamesTM Normandy will officially start today (Saturday, August 23, 2014)!

The Opening Ceremony will kick-off this 15 day extravaganza in just a few hours at 8 pm tonight (French Time).  20,000 spectators will watch an amazing show symbolizing the World Tour in 80 horses at the d’Ornano Stadium, Caen.

Our Hong Kong Delegation compromising of our Endurance and Para-Dressage teams will walk in the national delegations’ parade alongside 73 other countries. After the parade no less than 300 artists, including 100 riders, will perform 30 scenes divided in three acts to show the horse paths leading to Normandy. This magical show produced by Skertzo will offer new forms of performance using 3D projections combining monumental arts, performing arts and high technology.

Our Para-Dressage team will be the first of our Hong Kong representatives to compete at these prestigious Games, starting with the Team Test on Monday 25th August, and finishing their event with the Individual Freestyle Test on Friday 29th August. Our Endurance Team’s race will be on Thursday 28th August and our 2 Jumping riders’ first Team and Individual Speed competition will be on Tuesday 2nd September. The Jumping’s Individual Final Four competition will mark the last event of the Games with the Closing Ceremony straight after it’s medal ceremony on Sunday 7th September.

Our experienced Hong Kong Officials Alison and Nigel King also arrived in Normandy, France today having been appointed by the FEI and Organizing Committee as officials for WEG. Nigel will be a Steward for Dressage and Jumping events, whilst Alison has be appointed as a member of the Ground Jury for the Para-Dressage event and will be Stewarding in the Jumping event.

Please feel free to visit our official Hong Kong Equestrian Federation Facebook for regular updates and photos of our delegations.
