2020/05/28

Dear members,

Winners of HKEF Horse of the Year Awards 2019 – 2020

Owing to the outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19 in Hong Kong and the closure of all riding schools in the past few months, our annual flagship event, Horse of the Year Show did not take place this year.

In view of the various postponement and cancellation of scheduled events in this season, announcements updating HKEF Horse of the Year (HOY) and Season End Awards were published on 2 March and 17 March (http://www.hkef.org/?news=update-on-hkef-horse-of-the-year-shows-hkef-season-end-awards-for-2019-2020-2), clarifying that HOY points will be accumulated on all graded events published in the events calendar at the beginning of the season that have taken place before Saturday 6 June 2020.

With the cancellation of our Dressage Horse of the Year Show 2020 originally scheduled from 30 to 31 May, our current season is now coming to an end and we are now pleased to share with you the winners of our Annual Horse of the Year Awards for 2019 – 2020 and the two Awards sponsored by the HKJC, namely “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Best ‘Newcomer’ Retired Racehorse Award” and “The Hong Kong Jockey Club Best Retired Racehorse Award” as follows:

Given that the situation of COVID-19 infection remains severe and that there is a continuous increase in the number of cases reported around the world, our HKEF End of Season Awards Ceremony and Celebration Dinner originally scheduled on 6 June 2020 (Sat) will NOT take place. Replicas of our annual Horse of the Year Awards will be provided to all winners in due course. Details of the Prize Collection will be sent to all winners separately.

Congratulations to all winners and our sincere gratitude to our partners, officials, volunteers, supporting team and everyone who works tirelessly behind the scene to support the development of our sport. Looking ahead, we are making our best effort to prepare for the new competition season and will be ready to jump back into action once we are given the all-clear.

Wishing you all good health.

Best Regards,

Hong Kong Equestrian Federation
