Tentative Rankings for Horse of the Year (HOY) Awards (as of 1 Feb)

 Since the beginning of the season, the HKEF has been updating the tentative rankings of the HOYS Award for the three disciplines on weekly basis. Midway through the season, we would like to share with you the current rankings for the rest of our HOY Awards namely the Overall Horse of the Year Award, Junior Rider of the Year Award, HKJC Best Retired Racehorse Award and HKJC Best “Newcomer” Retired Racehorse Awards.

OVERALL HORSE OF THE YEAR AWARD

This is an award for the best performing horse-rider combination that has competed in all 3 disciplines (Jumping, Dressage & Eventing) during the season. Combination with the highest combined ranking according to the ranking lists of the 3 individual disciplines will be awarded. Top three standings as of today are:

This is an award for the best performing junior rider who is 18 years of age or under on 1 September in the year at the start of season. Rider with highest points accumulated in the 3 disciplines will be awarded. Top three standings as of today are:

THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB BEST RETIRED RACEHORSE AWARD

This is an award for the best retired racehorse that has competed in all 3 disciplines (Jumping, Dressage & Eventing) during the season. Retired racehorse with the highest combined HOY ranking according to the ranking lists of the 3 individual disciplines will be awarded. Should there be a tie in the combined ranking at the end of the season, the retired racehorses tied for first place will be declared joint winners for the award. Top three standings as of today are:

THE HONG KONG JOCKEY CLUB BEST “NEWCOMER” RETIRED RACEHORSE AWARD

This is an award for the best “newcomer” retired racehorse(s) in each of the disciplines (Jumping, Dressage or Eventing) during their first graded competition season in that discipline. Horse with the highest placing among the ‘newcomer’ retired racehorses according to the HOY ranking list before the end of its first graded competition season in the respective discipline will be awarded. Latest standings as of today are:

These captioned Awards together with the Horse of the Year Awards for Dressage, Jumping and Eventing as well as the Grimshaw Plate and Wrinklies Rice Bowl to be settled at the Longines Jumping Horse of the Year Show will be presented to winners at the HKEF End of Season Awards Ceremony and Celebration Dinner scheduled on 6 June 2020.
