Our 18th Asian Games Gold Medalist Jacqueline Siu is ready for the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 tomorrow!


(11 September 2018, Hong Kong) The equestrian sport’s most significant event with 8 disciplines, FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 (WEG 2018), will be held from 11-23 September, 2018 at Tryon International Equestrian Center. Our Individual Dressage Gold Medalist of the 18th Asian Games, Jacqueline Siu will be riding her own horse, Ferrera to compete against 78 riders coming from 31 countries at the Dressage Events from 12-16 September, 2018 (Wed – Sat). She is the first Hong Kong Dressage rider to compete in the World Equestrian Games.

The Dressage Events consist of three competitions, including Team Competition (Grand Prix Test), Individual Championship Competition 1 (Grand Prix Special Test) and Individual Championship Competition 2 (Grand Prix Freestyle Test). Only the top 30 riders will move to the Individual Championship Competition 1, at which the top 15 riders will move to the Individual Championship Competition 2. FEI Medals will be awarded to the teams placed 1st to 3rd and the Individuals placed 1st to 3rd in each Individual Championship Competition.

At the 18th Asian Games last August, Jacqueline Siu riding Jockey Club Fuerst on Tour became the Dressage Individual Gold Medalist with 77.045% at the Intermediate I Freestyle Test. She was also the Hong Kong Dressage representative at the last three consecutive Asian Games in 2006, 2010 and 2014. At the Asian Games 2014 in Incheon, Korea, Jacqueline and Ferrera made their best record with the 4th place by a score of 72.875% at the Intermediate I Freestyle to Music Test, just a mere of 1.2% behind the Bronze Medalist from Indonesia.

In July 2017 and June 2018, Jacqueline Siu and Ferrera successfully earned their qualification of WEG 2018 by 66.440% in the CDI3* Hartpury Grand Prix and 67.543% in CDI3* Harthill Bolesworth Grand Prix respectively. They will present their debut at the WEG 2018 tomorrow.
