Jacqueline Siu with Ferrera completed the Team Competition of FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 Dressage Events


(14 September, 2018, Hong Kong) The FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 (WEG 2018) Dressage Events began on 12 September 2018 (Wed) until 16 September, 2018 (Sun) at Tryon International Equestrian Center. The first competition was the Team Competition with Grand Prix Test, at which 15 teams with 4 riders each competed for the FEI Dressage Team Medals and 77 riders coming from 31 countries and regions competed for the top 30 placing, the Qualification of the Individual Championship Competition 1 on 14 September 2018 (Fri), USA time.

On 12 September, 2018, our Hong Kong sole Dressage representative Jacqueline Siu riding Ferrera finished with 67.127% at the Grand Prix Test and placed 50th out of 77 riders at the end. It was the first time that Jacqueline Siu competed in the FEI World Equestrian Games 2018, making the first step of Hong Kong Dressage Disciplines at the world’s highest level of equestrian events. We are proud for Jacqueline’s performance and achievement for Hong Kong equestrian sports at the international level. From the provisionally individual ranking and results, Germany’s Isabell with 84.829%, United States of America’s Laura with 81.537% and Germany’s Sonke with 81.444% placed the 1st to 3rd respectively after the Grand Prix Test.

The FEI Dressage Team Gold Medal was taken home by Germany with the highest total score of 242.950%, while the Silver and Bronze Medals belonged to United States of America with 233.136% and Great Britain with 229.628% respectively. The team ranking was determined by adding the best three riders’ scores of each team.

Hong Kong Equestrian Federation would like to express our highest appreciation to Jacqueline Siu and Ferrera for their long-term hard work for their preparation before and performance at the FEI World Equestrian Games 2018 Dressage Events.

The Jumping Events and Para-Dressage Events of the WEG 2018 will be held from 19-23 September and 19-22 September, 2018 respectively. Our Jumping rider Jacqueline Lai and Para-Dressage Team made up of Fleur Schrader, Natasha Tse and Timothy Tsang will compete at the events.
