HKEF Riding School Visiting Programme 2019/2020

In order to promote equestrian sports to the community, a Riding School Visiting Programme was established in 2007 by the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation (HKEF) with the support from the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).

Over the past 12 years, the programme has brought extraordinary learning opportunities to 17,000 students from over 400 local schools and its curriculum has been updated from time to time. In order to bring closer interaction between horses and students, students from different Primary and Secondary Schools in Hong Kong are invited to participate in the programme. Activities include:

  1. Watching an educational video of “Understanding Equestrian sports”
  2. A tour of Tuen Mun Public Riding School
  3. Introduction of horse fodder and horse habits
  4. A lecture introducing equestrianism and basic safety tips
  5. A trial pony ride
  6. A shoeing demonstration by a farrier
  7. Feeding the Shetland ponies
  8. Photo taking with the Shetland ponies
  9. Questions and Answers Session

This year, we target to carry out 42 visits to Tuen Mun Public Riding School for local primary, secondary and special schools. The first visit will take place on 4 June 2019 (Tuesday). The main objective of our programme is to contribute to the promotion of equestrian sports in Hong Kong.
