Completion of the HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2020

Dear members,

Completion of the HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2020

The HKEF is pleased to announce the completion of the HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge 2020, with the final leg of the Higher Division competition on Wednesday 27 May 2020 at Lo Wu Saddle Club (LWSC). In order to comply with social-distancing rules and to ensure safety for all involved, the competition was formatted as a series of three small heats without a final.

A total of 19 riders from 9 schools completed both the Ingestre Preliminary Dressage Test 6 and a course of jumps up to 80 cm. Of the 4 complete teams, Nord Anglia International School (NAIS) achieved the highest overall score of 449.14, followed by French International School (FIS) with 436.00, Hong Kong International School (HKIS) with 432.63 and Discovery College (DC) with 330.55.

Overall Team Results (Higher Division)

Leading the 6 riders who will receive medals for achieving the highest combined scores in dressage and jumping were Sophie Bater from German Swiss International School (GSIS) with 159.44, closely followed by Velvet Lung (NAIS) with 158.47 and Julia Yu (FIS) with 148.66.

Despite the difficulties of staging the HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge this year, it has been encouraging to see a total of 79 riders from more than 20 schools taking part in the Higher and Lower Division competitions – suitably reformatted into a series of 21 ‘micro’ heats held between March and May.

As well as congratulating all riders for their achievements, the HKEF would very much like to thank LWSC, parents and officials – especially our judges, Christian Allderidge and Sarah Corner – who have made the competition possible. The HKEF Inter-school Equestrian Challenge has now been held annually since 2007 and we look forward to a great competition next season!
With very best regards,
