Dear Members,

Further to the success of the FEI Refresher Seminar for Jumping Stewards yesterday, the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation organized another FEI Refresher Seminar for Jumping Judges today at the Central Complex of Sha Tin Racecourse. This seminar is held for FEI re-accreditation purposes of existing listed FEI Jumping Judges and f to reinforce their acquired knowledge in Jumping judging. The Course Director is Mr. Stephan Ellenbruch, FEI Jumping Committee Chair, FEI Level 4 Jumping Judge and the President of the Ground Jury at the upcoming Longines Masters of Hong Kong 2019 from 15-17 February 2019 (this Friday to Sunday). A total of 20 listed FEI Jumping Judges from Australia, Hong Kong, Jordan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand attended the seminar.

The seminar does not only provide a review on important elements of jumping judging, but also provides a concise review of the major changes on the jumping rules this year.  At the beginning, Mr. Stephan Ellenbruch highlighted the legal elements of judging and the way to become a good jumping judge. Later on, he provided the update on FEI matters concerning judges. In the second part of the seminar, Mr. Stephan Ellenbruch focused on the rules revision for 2018 and visited all the major changes on the jumping rules with all participants. Prof. Nigel King who is the FEI Level 3 Jumping Judge, Senior Jumping Judge from HKG and a Member of the Ground Jury at the upcoming Masters also presented at the seminar on some of the rules changes regarding tack. At the last part of seminar, videos of practical jumping judging were shared with all participants and they were given an opportunity to discuss with Mr. Stephan Ellenbruch on practical judging questions. It was a very useful refresher seminar which covers all the core issues that jumping judges will need to know. At the end of the seminar, all participants were granted a FEI Certificate by Mr. Stephan Ellenbruch.
