2009  Youth Olympic Games in Singapore

The first Youth Olympic Games (YOG) was held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010, with the equestrian events were held from 18 to 24 August 2010. A total of 30 riders from 6 continents competed in the YOG. Riders must be born between 1 January 1992 and 31 December 1993. Only one qualified rider from each national federation can compete in the Jumping individual competition. However, teams are mixed with riders from different continents competing against each other. The competition venue was Singapore Turf Club right next to the Singapore racecourse.
Jasmine Lai achieved in the individual jumping competition at a jump height of 1.20 meters at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, which was held from 22nd to 24th August 2010. Jasmine had 8 penalties in the first round and 4 penalties in the second round totaling 12 penalties. She was finally ranked 17th overall among 29 competitors.

Jasmine Lai won the team silver medal in the Jumping Team competition at YOG on 20 August 2010.
30 riders competed for two rounds in the team competition which was between the 6 continental teams. Each team had five riders and Hong Kong was in the same Australasia group as Australia, China, New Zealand and Oman. The Australasian, African and European teams took the lead with 8 team total penalties respectively after finishing 2 rounds at a jump height of 1.2 meters. Jasmine had 4 penalties and the team got total 4 penalties in the second round. Jasmine riding Butterfly Kisses delighted the Hong Kong supporters by jumping a clear round in an exciting jump-off to win the first ever silver medal for Hong Kong in the equestrian sports at the YOG.
This is a historic result for the equestrian sports of Hong Kong. It is also the best result ever achieved by a Hong Kong young rider.
